Healing Threads Counselling is a warm, steady space where you can bring the different threads of your life — the parts that feel tangled, heavy or uncertain — and explore them with care. It’s a place to slow down, feel heard and begin to weave together clarity, understanding and a sense of grounding. Every thread you bring is welcome and we work gently, at your pace, to help things feel a little lighter and more connected.
My work is rooted in person‑centred counselling, which means the focus is always on you — your experiences, your pace and what feels most important. I also use integrative approaches, bringing in different ways of working when they might help you understand things more clearly. Everything is shaped around your individuality, supporting you as you move toward clarity, resilience and a deeper understanding of yourself.
In your first session, I will gather some initial information to understand your background and what has brought you to counselling. We will also go through essential formalities such as confidentiality, session boundaries, and how we will work together, to include fees and cancellations. This helps us create a clear and safe foundation from the start.
You can bring anything that feels heavy, confusing or important to you. Some people come because they feel overwhelmed or stuck; others want space to make sense of their emotions, relationships or life changes. You might want to explore patterns you’ve noticed, talk through something recent, or understand feelings that have been building for a while. There is no “right” kind of issue — if it matters to you, it’s welcome in the room.
My counselling experience is diverse and can help with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, low mood, bereavement, grief and loss.
No, you do not need to prepare anything for your first session. Many people arrive unsure of where to start, and that’s completely okay. You can simply come as you are. I’ll guide you through the session gently — gathering a little information, explaining how we’ll work together, and creating a calm space for you to talk about whatever feels most present for you.
The number of sessions varies for each person. Some people find a few sessions give them the clarity they need, while others prefer to work over a longer period. We will check in regularly to see how you’re feeling and whether the pace and direction still feels right for you. There is no pressure or fixed timeline — we shape the work around what you need and what feels supportive for you.
Most clients find that meeting weekly provides a steady, supportive rhythm for the work to unfold. It allows space for reflection between sessions while keeping the momentum of therapy. Some people prefer fortnightly sessions if that feels more manageable or better suited to their circumstances. We will discuss what feels right for you, and agree on a pace that supports your wellbeing and fits comfortably into your life.
It is completely normal to feel unsure about where to begin. You don’t need to prepare anything — we’ll take things gently, and I’ll guide the conversation. You can simply share whatever feels most present, even if that’s “I’m not sure what to say.” Together, we’ll find a starting point that feels comfortable for you.
Progress can look different for everyone. You might notice increased clarity, improved emotional balance, a stronger sense of direction, or feeling more able to cope with challenges. We will check in regularly to ensure the work continues to support your needs.
Confidentiality is central to counselling, and I take great care in protecting your privacy. Most of what you share stays between us. There are a few situations, however, where confidentiality is not absolute — such as if there is a serious risk of harm, a safeguarding concern, or a legal requirement to disclose information. I also discuss my work in supervision to ensure safe and ethical practice, but your identity is always protected. My aim is to offer a space where you can speak openly, knowing your privacy is respected.
If you need to cancel a session, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. This allows the appointment to be offered to someone else. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, are charged at the full session fee. This policy helps keep the practice running smoothly and ensures fairness for all clients.
